Nicole Philibosian has been a musical mainstay in Northern Michigan for over twenty years, lending her international performing experience and superior talent to the stages and classrooms of this community. Trained at the Eastman School of Music and the Juilliard School, she went on to an illustrious opera career during which she performed in many of the major opera and concert venues of the world, including the New York City Opera, The Seattle Opera, L'Opéra de Nice, The Atlanta Symphony, and The Dallas Symphony, to name but a few. When she moved from New York to Northern Michigan, she began to impart her knowledge, technique, and experience to the young musicians of this area, while maintaining a thriving performing career.
In 1996, Ms. Philibosian founded the Singwell Academy, a school where kids of all ages learn the basics of good vocal technique and build self-confidence.
Ms. Philibosian's signature invention, The Magic Circle, is a place in which it is completely impossible to make a mistake! What a perfect place for children to explore and discover their vocal capabilities! Classes take place inside The Magic Circle, to encourage each student to experiment without fear of failure. During each class, we practice good posture, breathing exercises, and gentle vocal warm-ups, and then each student receives individual instruction on a solo that he or she will perform at the final concert.
See our FAQ section for answers to specific questions about the Singwell model.
